Perry: Ebola Patient Had Contact With School-Aged Children

Texas Governor Rick Perry said that the Ebola patient quarantined in a Dallas hospital had contact with school-aged children during a press conference on Wednesday.

"Today we learned that some school-aged children have been identified as having had contact with the patient and are now being monitored at home for any signs of the disease," Perry said.

Perry spoke alongside a team federal officials who are working to determine whether or not the patient had contact with anyone else.

"I know that parents are being extremely concerned about that development," Perry said. "But let me assure--these children have been identified and they are being monitored and the disease cannot be transmitted before having any symptoms."

The patient, whose identity and age is still unknown, arrived in the U.S. from Liberia on September 20 and began developing symptoms on September 24.
