Daily Beast National Security correspondent Eli Lake tore apart President Obama's interview on CBS's 60 Minutes aired Sunday, during which the president blamed the intelligence community for "underestimating" the threat of ISIL.
Lake's article contained a quote from a former senior Pentagon official, who said "either the President doesn't read the intelligence he's getting or he's bullshitting."
Daily Beast Editor-in-Chief John Avlon appeared on CNN Newsroom Monday morning and echoed the criticism contained in Lake's article.
"The idea that this suddenly snuck up on us isn't quite the case," Avlon said.
