Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) sustained an injury and was hospitalized while abroad in Luxembourg on a congressional delegation, her office said Friday.
Pelosi, 84, tripped going down a flight of marble stairs at the Grand Ducal Palace. A source close to the California representative said that she fractured her hip, the New York Times reported. Pelosi's office has not elaborated on the extent of the injury but said she was admitted to a hospital in Luxembourg.
Pelosi was traveling to Luxembourg for Battle of the Bulge commemorations. After suffering the injury, Pelosi canceled the rest of her engagements.
"Speaker Emerita Pelosi is currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals. She continues to work and regrets that she is unable to attend the remainder of the CODEL engagements to honor the courage of our servicemembers during one of the greatest acts of American heroism in our nation’s history," Pelosi's spokesman Ian Krager said in a statement.
The CODEL was set to run through Saturday and included 17 other bipartisan representatives, according to Axios.
