Sen. Ron Johnson (R., Wis.) said investigators need to learn why Tamerlan Tsarnaev's presence on the TIDE (Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment) list did not trigger further scrutiny with the Department of Homeland Security Friday on FNC:
GRETA VAN SUSTEREN: How does this fall through? We've got mother and son on [the TIDE] database?
SENATOR RON JOHNSON: We need to find out why it did fall through. The moment where it really broke down was the name was entered into the is system that would actually ping the Customs and Border Protection part of Homeland Security but nothing happened to that ping, and what we need to find out is exactly [why the ping did not go through].
