The Sandy Hook Promise Foundation, a nonprofit founded by family members of some of the Sandy Hook shooting victims, dropped NBC's Megyn Kelly as the host of its annual gala following her interview with Infowars' Alex Jones.
The foundation, a gun violence prevention group, made the announcement late Monday, saying the organization cannot support anyone who gives Jones a prominent platform, the Washington Post reported.
"Sandy Hook Promise cannot support the decision by Megyn or NBC to give any form of voice or platform to Alex Jones and have asked Megyn Kelly to step down as our Promise Champion Gala host," Nicole Hockley, the co-founder and managing director of the organization, said in a statement. "It is our hope that Megyn and NBC reconsider and not broadcast this interview."
Jones, a radio show host and conspiracy theorist, has called the 2012 shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., which killed 20 children and six adults, a government hoax.
Kelly's interview with Jones does not air until next Sunday, but the NBC host previewed the conversation on this past week's episode of "Sunday Night with Megyn Kelly."
The interview has faced widespread criticism since its announcement. Mothers of Sandy Hook victims have spoken out against Kelly, saying the interview legitimized Jones' views by having him on her show.
JPMorgan Chase pulled its local television ads from NBC News programming until after the interview airs.
Jones himself has called for the interview to be canceled.
"I'm calling for @megynkelly to cancel the airing of our interview for misrepresenting my views on Sandy Hook," Jones tweeted Monday.

The Promise Champions Gala is scheduled to be held on Wednesday in Washington, D.C.
Kelly released a statement Tuesday afternoon responding to the organization's decision to drop her from hosting its gala.
The NBC host criticized Jones, his supporters, and President Donald Trump in her statement, writing that she found Jones' opinion "personally revolting as any rational person does." She wrote that Trump has elevated Jones by giving him interviews and White House press credentials, "to the alarm of many."
"How does Jones, who traffics in these outrageous conspiracy theories, have the respect of the president of the United States and a growing audience of millions?" Kelly wrote.
