McDonald's Employee Fired for Drawing Swastika on Sandwich

A McDonald’s worker in North Carolina has reportedly been fired after drawing a swastika onto a woman’s chicken sandwich.

Charleigh Matice told local television stations that she discovered a swastika drawn with butter on her chicken sandwich when she lifted up the bun to apply mayonnaise, according to UPI.

"Is this a joke? Does somebody really think they're funny?" Matice was quoted as telling local affiliate WCTI. "Many people died because of that symbol and it's not something that should be taken lightly. It's not something that should be thrown around."

McDonald’s says that it has fired the employee responsible for the swastika.

"We do not tolerate that kind of behavior at McDonald's, and it's not what we stand for personally as owners," a McDonald’s spokesman told WCTI. "It is about providing the best level of service and care to our customers, and anything less than that is unacceptable to us."

Matice said she will continue to patronize the McDonald’s.
