The House Ways and Means Committee subpoenaed the administrator of Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) on Tuesday requesting the Obama administration’s enrollment reports on the Obamacare exchanges .

In a letter to CMS administrator Marilyn Tavenner, the committee said it estimated fewer than 100,000 were able to enroll onto the exchanges in the month of October despite internal memos that predicted 494,620 would enroll in that time frame. Although the administration predicted more than 706,000 would be enrolled in November, the website issues will not be fixed before Nov. 30.

The Obama administration has not released official numbers on the enrollment and it "has been widely criticized for the insular and nontransparent approach it has take in implementing the law," according to the committee.

"Congress and the American people need to know the facts," the letter said. "Both Republicans and Democrats need to understand the full extent of the crisis if we are going to find a fair and workable solution for the American people."
