Hawaii Man Spends Two Months Trying to Enroll in Correct Obamacare Plan

February 21, 2014

Hawaii man Rob Rabideau has spent the last two months trying to enroll in the correct Obamacare plan after choosing an incorrect one last December, KGMB-HI reports.

After enrolling in a Kaiser Bronze plan, the Waikele resident decided he wanted to instead enroll in the more expensive Gold plan. A Hawaii Health Connector representative said he would not be able to cancel his plan but they would send the new paperwork to Kaiser. Kaiser notified Rabideau in January that he was enrolled in the Bronze plan, and when Rabideau asked Kaiser about the mix-up, they told him to talk to Hawaii Health Connector.

"They’ve basically just been pointing fingers at each other. Kaiser’s been telling me to talk to the Health Connector people," Rabideau said. "I’ve done that! At least on four different occasions."

In his most recent attempt, after two months of trying, Rabideau was told he could switch to the Gold plan.

"I’ve finally been given some answers, but why this long?" Rabideau asked.
