Fisker Automotive missed a Sept. 30 deadline for $883,295 in local taxes, according to the News Journal. Since it missed its deadline, Fisker Automotive forfeited its county tax break and now owes over $1 million.
New Castle County spokesman Antonio Prado said that this wasn’t the first time Fisker had failed to pay its county taxes. The News Journal reports:
This is the first time Fisker has not paid its New Castle County taxes, Prado said.
Pati Nash, spokeswoman for the school district, said Fisker’s property taxes make up 1.2 percent of the district’s local revenues for the current fiscal year.
"That definitely is a rather large number to absorb," Nash said. It probably will not lead to layoffs or any other service reductions, "but it will have to be reacted to and adjusted."
Fisker missed tax payments totaling $883,295, reported the county, which collects taxes for itself and school districts.
Of this number, $141,772 is for county taxes, and $741,523 is for taxes due the school district, the county reported.
