Justin Timberlake at the Western Wall

Pop icon Justin Timberlake visited the Western Wall on Tuesday during a trip to Israel for his international tour.

Timberlake posted a picture on Instagram of himself praying at the holy site.

"The Holy Land... What an experience. I will never forget this day. #Israel" Timberlake wrote in the photo caption.

The singer then performed at his show in Tel Aviv hours after taking the picture.

Some Instagram commenters expressed anger at Timberlake's hashtag, saying he should have said Palestine instead. However, many others supported and applauded Timberlake for his statement.

One commenter wrote, "calling it anything other than Israel is just plain anti-Semitism, and that's nothing new. thank you, JT."
