President Donald Trump on Friday threw his support behind Republican Rep. Ron DeSantis (Fla.) to become the next governor of Florida.
"Congressman Ron DeSantis is a brilliant young leader, Yale and then Harvard Law, who would make a GREAT Governor of Florida," Trump tweeted. "He loves our Country and is a true FIGHTER!"

Trump appeared to send the tweet because he saw a Fox News segment with DeSantis toward the end his flight to Florida, the Tampa Bay Times reported, citing a reporter on the plane. The president is traveling to Mar-a-Lago for Christmas.
DeSantis has not announced his candidacy for governor but is expected to soon launch a campaign, according to reports.
"I can tell you this was a much-wanted tweet, per people close to DeSantis," Politico reporter Jake Sherman said of Trump's tweet.
DeSantis, a close ally of the president, appeared with him at a rally earlier this month.
