The visitor logs to President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort will be released by an ethics watchdog group starting this fall.
Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, or CREW, will obtain the records due to a lawsuit against the Department of Homeland Security, the Hill reports.
CREW, the Knight First Amendment Institute, and the National Security Archive sued for the logs to the White House, Trump Tower in New York City, and Mar-a-Lago to be released. The Department of Homeland Security has said that it does not have visitor logs for Trump Tower; the lawsuit for the White House visitor logs is still pending.
The Obama administration released its visitor logs after a similar lawsuit was brought by CREW in 2009.
CREW's executive director, Noah Bookbinder, released a statement on the release of the Mar-a-Lago logs, but called for the White House's logs to be released as well.
"The public deserves to know who is coming to meet with the president and his staff," Bookbinder said. "We are glad as a result of this case, this information will become public for meetings at his personal residences — but it needs to be public for meetings at the White House as well."
