A Florida woman is alive and her ex-boyfriend is dead after a shooting on Saturday that police believe was in self-defense.
Forty-five-year-old Frank Harrison was shot and killed by his ex-girlfriend, 38-year-old Alejandrina Guinn, at her Zephyrhills, Fla., home after showing up at her doorstep with a rifle, Pasco County Sheriff's Office told the Tampa Bay Times. As Harrison approached the home, Guinn fired on him. Guinn told police she had been receiving threats from Harrison in the run-up to the events of Saturday.
"The victim didn't advise she had [any domestic violence injunctions] and we are unable to locate any within our records," a spokesperson for the Pasco County Sheriff's Office told WFLA. "But according to her, he had been threatening her."
Harrison had a long history of criminal acts. He had been convicted of drug charges and armed robbery, in addition to being involved in the 2003 shooting death of 23-year-old Shane Lani Sampson. He had only recently been released from prison before Saturday's incident.
Police told the Times that they believed Guinn had acted in self-defense, and they would not be filing charges against her based on the incident.
