Attorney General Jeff Sessions said Tuesday there are "secret innuendos" being leaked about him that are suggesting he is not being honest.
Sessions had a contentious interaction with Sen. Ron Wyden (D., Ore.) during his testimony before the Senate Intelligence Committee. Wyden was pressing Sessions about why he recused himself from the Russia investigation, referring to comments that former FBI Director James Comey made during his hearing last week.
"Mr. Comey said there were matters with respect to the recusal that were problematic and he couldn't talk about them. What are they?" Wyden asked.
"Why don't you tell me? There are none, Sen. Wyden. There are none, I can tell you that for absolute certainty," Sessions said.
"This is a secret innuendo being leaked out there about me, and I don't appreciate it. And I've tried to give my best and truthful answers to any committee I have appeared before," Sessions said.
