Multiple media outlets are reporting that presumptive GOP nominee Donald Trump has won both the West Virginia and Nebraska Republican primaries Tuesday night while Sen. Bernie Sanders (I., Vt.) has won the West Virginia Democratic primary.

Trump's delegates won from West Virginia and Nebraska put him closer to the total of 1237 needed on the Republican side to clinch the nomination, although that appears to be a formality at this point.

Sanders' win in West Virginia is not unexpected, as Hillary Clinton has been dogged throughout her campaigning in West Virginia by past controversies and attacks she has made on the coal industry.

Sanders is still behind Clinton by several hundred delegates, especially when superdelegates are added to the total. The superdelegates are overwhelmingly in favor of Clinton.

In the 2008 Democratic Primaries, Clinton won West Virginia by a landslide over then-Sen. Barack Obama.
