Combat veteran and Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Jon Keyser vowed to only serve two terms if he is elected, saying "career politicians" such as Democratic incumbent Sen. Michael Bennet are part of the problem in Washington.

Keyser signed the voluntary U.S. Senate term limits declaration on Thursday and submitted it to the Colorado Secretary of State.

"Politics is not a career and I firmly believe career politicians are one of the many things wrong with Washington, DC," Keyser, who recently made the primary ballot after returning from reserve duty with the U.S. Air Force. "I view serving our country in the United States Senate as an extension of my public service that started when I joined the military at age eighteen."

"I will bring the focus and determination of a military officer to serving Colorado and solving the many problems created by Senator Michael Bennet," he said.
