Clinton Spokesman: Sanders Campaign Needs to Take a Time Out

April 7, 2016

Hillary Clinton campaign spokesman Brian Fallon told MSNBC's Tamron Hall that Sen. Bernie Sanders' (I., Vt.) campaign "needs to take a time out."

Fallon said the rhetoric coming from the Sanders campaign only helps the Republican party.

"This was a below-the-belt low blow from Senator Sanders. He should take it back. He should retract it," Fallon said. "In the past few days we have seen the rhetoric get out of hand and I think the Sanders campaign needs to take a time-out."

The political battle between Sanders and Clinton took a turn when Sanders said that Clinton was not qualified to be president.

Sanders accused Clinton of starting the spat by saying that Clinton said that he was not qualified to be president. The Clinton campaign has denied the accusations. The campaign has stood by his statements.

Fallon said that Clinton is the most qualified candidate to be president and touted all of her political positions as accomplishments. He also called the attacks against Clinton desperate.

"Let me be a little bit more direct, Hillary Clinton is probably one of the most qualified candidates to run for president in the history of American politics," Fallon said. "A former first lady, a two-term senator from New York, a secretary of state with accomplishments around the globe."

Fallon also called Clinton a "gracious leader."

Clinton and Sanders are currently campaigning in New York. Sanders likes to talk about his Brooklyn roots while Clinton touts that she was a senator from the state and that it is her adopted home state.

Both campaigns have agreed to hold another debate in New York before the state's April 19 primary.
