Terror group ISIS reportedly kidnapped 300 workers near the Syrian capital of Damascus this week.
The Associated Press, citing Syrian state television, reported Thursday that ISIS militants have abducted 300 cement workers and contractors from Dumeir, which is northeast of Damascus. The abducted individuals reportedly work for the al-Badia Cement Company.
ISIS has escalated attacks on areas of the Syrian capital controlled by government forces in recent days. The terror group on Tuesday used bomb-laden cars to launch attacks near the military airport in Dumeir.
According to one state news source, an individual connected to the cement company said that attempts to contact the workers have been unsuccessful.
The news comes days before U.N.-brokered peace talks on Syria’s future are expected to begin in Geneva.
