In September, the Washington Free Beacon interviewed veterans that participated in the Warrior Cup, hosted by the George W. Bush Institute.
Here are more interviews with these brave veterans as they share their stories and answer a question many Americans ask: How can we support you?
Specialist Alexander Glenn-Camben was injured during an ambush in Afghanistan. He was shot in the neck, where to this day the bullet remains. He says, on supporting veterans, that "a simple thank you" goes a long way.
He is attending Palomar College in San Marcos, California, where he is studying to become a firefighter.
Retired Army Sgt. 1st Class John Faulkenberry said "supporting the caregiver" is a good way to support veterans.
Retired Sgt. B.J. Ganem and retired Capt. Bryon Vincent both said that to support veterans, take the time to get to know them, and their experiences. Both veterans argued that veterans' talents go beyond the battlefield, and said that they have experience that can transfer to the corporate word.
"Reach out and hire veterans, and I think that we will impress you," Vincent said.
Vincent led numerous missions in Iraq and sustained injuries that led to a medical retirement in 2008.
Thank you to the brave men and women who have or currently serving our country. We are grateful for your service.
