Rep. Alan Grayson (D., Fla.) and his soon-to-be ex-wife Lolita are going through a messy divorce.
The couple is annulling their marriage after 25 years and are going through a tough legal battle.
Politico reports:
"I’ll sum it up for you. Gold diggers gotta dig. That’s all I gotta say," the Florida Democrat told Orlando’s ABC affiliate WFTV on Monday. "We had an agreement. She’s trying to renege."
Lolita Grayson laughed when the reporter told her his remarks, and attorneys declined to further comment to the station on the latest development in the saga, which began last January.
His wife filed for divorce at that time, citing an "irretrievably broken" marriage, to which Grayson responded with a petition for annulment, alleging that the marriage was void because she had not divorced her first husband when the couple tied the knot in 1990.
POLITICO reported earlier this month that Grayson, who is exploring a Senate run, wants his current girlfriend to succeed him in the House.
