Boehner: 'Arbitrary Political Deadlines' in Afghanistan Should Never Be Put Ahead of Success

Afghan President Ghani visited the United States Congress this week to speak about how far Afghanistan has come since Sept. 11, 2001.

When Ghani spoke to Congress, he said he and his country were grateful for the sacrifice and dedication of the U.S. soldiers to keep Afghanistan free.

President Obama also announced this week that he would begin the very slow pull out of U.S. troops in Afghanistan. Speaker John Boehner said Congress would review Obama’s proposed U.S. troop level in Afghanistan for the remainder of 2015.

"Arbitrary political deadlines should never be put ahead of ensuring success that we have worked so hard to achieve," Boehner said.
