Sen. Orrin Hatch: Obama's Islamic State Plan is 'Utterly Stupid'

February 12, 2015

President Obama sent his proposal to Congress on Wednesday as to how to combat the Islamic State. The proposal has received criticism from both sides of the aisle.

The Hill reported that Obama’s proposal would all U.S. troops to conduct search and rescue operations, target Islamic State leaders and advise and assist operations against the terrorist group. Obama also pandered to Democrats with a ban on any "enduring offensive ground combat operations" and limited the use of a military campaign to three years.

In a radio interview Sen. Orin Hatch (R., Utah.) called Obama’s proposal "utterly stupid."

"Here we have the President coming up with this–I think it’s utterly stupid–proposal," said Hatch. "And he’s binding the next president also with really stupid language."

Hatch also expressed concern with the restrictions in the proposal that IS could use to their advantage and grow even more.
