A new ad from North Carolina Republican Senate candidate Thom Tillis targets Sen. Kay Hagan (D., N.C.) on her confession that she skipped a classified hearing with top intelligence officials because she was in New York City for a cocktail party fundraiser.
"Hagan admits she prioritized a cocktail party to benefit her campaign," says the ad, which was released on Thursday.
"While ISIS grew ... Senator Hagan did cocktails," it concludes.
The Washington Free Beacon first reported last month that Hagan had a fundraiser scheduled on the same day that a classified hearing on "current and future worldwide threats" was scheduled, but it was not until after this week's debate that Hagan admitted that she attended the fundraiser.
UPDATE, Oct. 10, 10:50 a.m: The National Republican Senatorial Committee is also out with a new ad attacking Hagan for attending the New York City fundraiser.
