NBC: White House Facing Growing Pressure to Act in Syria

NBC's Peter Alexander reported Monday night that the White House is "facing growing pressure to act in Syria."

White House aides told Alexander that President Obama has not yet made a decision on whether or not to conduct air strikes against ISIL in Syria, and not to expect an announcement if he does.

"A senior administration official tells NBC News potential targets inside Syria have already been identified," said Alexander.

Alexander went on to quote former White House counterterrorism director Michael Leiter, who told NBC, "I think it is extremely likely that the U.S. over the coming weeks will hit targets in Syria belonging to ISIS. Without doing so, we will be faced with a very difficult challenge simply playing the defense on what is a real terror threat to the United states and Europe."
