The Obama campaign is expected to raise more than $8 million from wealthy donors "at small, intimate gatherings" during an upcoming West coast trip, Politico reports.
Obama will do eight fundraising events in California and Washington state this week. According to a Democratic official, his Thursday cash haul alone will approach $4 million — with an event in Newport Beach, and three events in San Francisco. Obama also did a big event Wednesday for small donors in Los Angeles — complete with an appearance by the Foo Fighters. And soul crooner Al Green will perform at an intimate dinner for 70 high-dollar donors in San Francisco.
At least $7.2 million of his haul will come from high dollar donors who gave $17,900 or more. And more than $6 million will come from donors who maxed out their donations at $35,800.
