New York Democratic Congressional candidate Sean Eldridge is still hiding from national media according to Fox News's Eric Shawn.
Shawn profiled the New York 19th Congressional district race Thursday morning. The reporter noted Eldridge's peculiar standing as a candidate given his recent relocation to the district and vast campaign war chest by virtue of his marriage to Facebook cofounder Chris Hughes.
Eldridge's opponent Rep. Chris Gibson (R., N.Y.) blasted the Democrat's decision move to the district specifically to run for Congress. "For many Americans, regardless of party, that's anathema to what their view is to how representative democracy should work," he said.
However when Shawn reached out to Eldridge for comment, his campaign informed Fox News they were "only talking to local reporters, not to the national media like Fox News Channel."
Eldridge's refusal to talk to national media is hardly new. The Democrat literally locked out Politico reporter Alex Isenstadt when he visited Eldridge's campaign headquarters after being repeatedly rebuffed by the candidate's communications team.
"I go to his campaign headquarters, the door is locked. So they put up the wall pretty good on this one," Isenstadt said. "I was literally locked out. That is true."
