Virginia Delegate Barbara Comstock leads the Republican field for an open House of Representatives seat by a margin of more than 30 points, according to a poll released on Tuesday.

Forty-four percent of likely Republican voters said they would "definitely" or "probably" vote for Comstock, or are leaning in her direction, according to the poll, conducted for the Citizens United Political Victory Fund.

That puts Comstock significantly ahead of her five opponents in the race for the Republican nomination. The six candidates will compete in a "firehouse primary" on April 26.

"Her strong reputation as a conservative, along with her skills as a campaigner have given her a strong lead in the few remaining weeks of this firehouse primary," wrote Kellyanne Conway, president of the Polling Company, which conducted the survey.

According to Conway, Comstock leads key subgroups, including conservatives, moderates, libertarians, Tea Party Republicans, and independents.

Comstock also enjoys significantly higher favorability ratings than her primary opponents.

Fifty-seven percent of respondents have a very or somewhat favorable view of her, with just nine percent expressing a negative opinion and 33 percent who expressed no opinion or have not heard of her.

The poll shows fellow Republican delegate Bob Marshall in second, with a 27/4 favorable rating and 10 percent of respondents saying they will likely vote for him or are leaning in that direction.

Comstock has attracted endorsements from high-profile Republicans in Virginia and nationally, including Mitt and Ann Romney, Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.), former Virginia Senator and Governor George Allen, and Leadership Institute president Morton Blackwell.
