Barber: Latest Obamacare Delay a 'Political Fix'

The Washington Free Beacon’s Ellison Barber appeared on Fox News’ Happening Now to discuss the intent and implications of President Obama’s latest Obamacare delay.

The Hill reported Monday that White House is set announce a new directive allowing insurers to continue offering health plans that do not meet Obamacare’s minimum coverage requirements.

By prolonging the "keep your plan" fix it allow the administration to avoid another wave of health policy cancellations expected this fall.

"Insurance companies set their premiums for the next year in advance and they set those premiums based on predictions of how they think the market is going to play out. This creates a certain level of instability. They are going to have some difficulty when it comes to setting premiums for 2015," Barber said.

Barber also noted the latest extension is "absolutely" a sign that Democrats are pressuring President Obama to devise a quick fix for Obamacare so that they can win their elections back home.
