The Washington Free Beacon’s Ellison Barber joined Fox News Tuesday to discuss the recent spike in higher premiums for small businesses under Obamacare, saying the cost could be shifted by the businesses to over 11 million employees.
"What the report found is that 65% of small business employers will see higher premiums, and they’re saying if employers have higher premiums they’re going to hand that off to up to 11 million employees," Barber said.
Barber noted that the report came from the administration’s Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), an arm of the Department of Health and Human Services. Democrats have derided their own administration’s report for not factoring in tax subsidies.
"I don’t think that’s anything that would invalidate the study," Barber said, pointing out that individuals promised subsidies on the individual exchange have had a hard time getting those subsidies.
"So basically you’re faced with a similar situation," Barber said, "Because a lot of businesses are not going to be getting as much subsidies as they expected."
