Any number of UFC fighters could make a case for "Man of the Year." They're modern-day gladiators who bash each other's brains out in front of an increasingly right-wing audience. What's not to love?
One such fighter, however, stood above the rest. We're talking, of course, about Renato "Money" Moicano, the Brazilian cage fighter whose furious fists of freedom at UFC 300 captured the hearts of all American patriots.
After a first-round knockdown, Moicano rallied for a second-round TKO over Vegas favorite Jalin Turner. Covered in sweat and blood after an underdog victory reminiscent of 1776, Moicano declared his unflinching love for America, the Constitution, and "fucking guns" in a colorful post-fight interview with MAGA's newest convert, Joe Rogan.
"I love America," Moicano told Rogan, whose reputation for tough interviews has scared off lesser opponents (Kamala Harris). "I love the Constitution. I love the First Amendment. I want to carry and own fucking guns!" As if that wasn’t enough, "Money" gave a shoutout to Ludwig von Mises, the father of Austrian economics whose love of freedom infuriated Nazis and other fascists.
"I love private property, and let me tell you something: If you care about your fucking country, read Ludwig von Mises and the six lessons of the Austrian economic school, motherfuckers!" said the Brazilian brawler, whose home nation is in shambles from the leftist policies of its anti-Semitic president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Moicano’s speech became the stuff of legend, a beacon of light in a world that had lost its way like an 82-year-old man in a rainforest. Moicano didn't just win a fight. He won over a nation.
And he didn't stop winning from there. Moicano triumphed months later, when, ignoring the haters and prognosticators, he laid 10 large on Trump's election win.
Moicano’s iconic performance won him "Fight of the Night" at UFC 300. Now, for fighting not just for titles, but for the American dream, he’s earned a much more important distinction: Washington Free Beacon Man of the Year.
