The Washington Free Beacon's Ellison Barber appeared on Fox News to discuss the resounding re-election of New Jersey Governor Chris Christie and his prospects as a 2016 Republican presidential candidate Monday.
Christie appeared on four talk shows Sunday, always a sign of a politician with rising stock, high public interest or both. Christie won with significant percentages amongst women and minorities, groups the national party did poorly with in the 2012 elections.
Barber also discussed his unique experience as a Republican governor of a traditionally blue state, and how his ability to work across the aisle could serve as a key asset should he enter a national race.
"He is a bit more of a bipartisan guy," she said. "A big part of that comes from the fact he's in New Jersey. He has to be. He has a Democratic legislature. If he's not going to work with them, he's not going to get anything done. But there's something refreshing about that message for people on both sides of the aisle, in particular independents, who are frustrated with the stagnation in Washington where they feel like nothing is getting done. That's going to be one of his really big selling points."
