Democratic consultant Bob Shrum said that radio host Rush Limbaugh "can’t deal with the fact that a black man is president of the United States."
In a breathless rant yesterday on MSNBC’s "The Ed Show," Shrum said:
Can we rename what Limbaugh does? Trash talk radio. Because what he was saying is absolutely outrageous—the notion that you would connect this to race so that some how or other you could bring up the president’s race, that has always been the sub-text of much of the criticism of the president from the right. You look at those tea party rallies—they can’t deal with the fact that a black man is president of the United States. That is why they call him the other, that’s why they call him alien. It makes me proud he’s there and he is not making racist appeals. He’s out fighting for everybody.
