President Donald Trump said Friday its possible now that the summit between him and North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un could still occur on the planned June 12 date.

Trump spoke briefly to reporters as he walked from the White House to Marine One, which was waiting nearby to take the president to Annapolis, Maryland for the U.S. Naval Academy's graduation.

One reporter shouted to ask Trump if the summit was still off. The president cancelled the summit in a Thursday letter in response to "tremendous anger and open hostility displayed" by the regime.

"We’re going to see what happens. We’re talking to them now," Trump said. In reference to a statement the North Korean regime put out Friday in response to Trump's letter cancelling the summit, the president said, "It was a very nice statement they put out. We’ll see what happens."

Trump went on to say the Singapore meeting could still occur on the originally planned date.

"We'll see what happens, it could even be the 12th. We're talking to them now," Trump said. "They very much want to do it, we'd like to do it. We're going to see what happens."

North Korea said Friday that Kim is still will willing to meet Trump "at any time."

"We would like to make known to the US side once again that we have the intent to sit with the US side to solve problem(s) regardless of ways at any time," Kim told the country's state-run news agency KCNA.

Trump was also asked about disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein turning himself into authorities in New York City. The president said he had no comment on the matter, saying he knew nothing about Weinstein's case.

He further told reporters First Lady Melania Trump was doing okay and in the White House following a recent medical procedure.
