The White House announced Monday plans to expedite a grant for a "nationally and regionally significant" transit project in Cleveland, Ohio, as part of its "We Can't Wait" initiative.
The project, the relocation of an existing rail station with a "new, energy efficient building," will be funded in part by a Department of Transportation TIGER grant, according to a statement released by the White House. The administration also announced an expedited grant for the construction of a rail project in Minneapolis.
The Cleveland announcement is just the latest example of politically convenient federal money announced by the Obama administration this year--especially in battleground Ohio.
President Obama announced a manufacturing federal grant for Ohio in March, as well as an auto-industry trade complaint against China in the state last month.
The Free Beacon tracked down five other examples of the president using executive authority to entice key constituencies earlier this year, including defense funding for Israel before Mitt Romney's visit, and drought aid for Iowa while the president campaigned in the state.
