Republicans are more optimistic than Democrats about the 2014 midterm elections, according to a new Pew Research poll.
Fifty-five percent of Republicans polled think the GOP will do better than it has in recent elections. Thirty-three percent think it will do about the same, and only 5 percent believe it will do worse.
Democrats polled were less optimistic. Just 43 percent say the party will do better than it has in recent elections. Another 43 percent believe it will do about the same, and 9 percent believe it will do worse.
Republicans are also more enthusiastic about the midterms than Democrats. Fifty-three percent of Republicans say they are “very enthusiastic,” while only 47 percent of Democrats feel the same way.
