Reid: We Won't Have a Secretary of Defense at Noon

Actually, Panetta will stay until a successor is confirmed

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D., Nev.) rebuked Republicans for opposing Chuck Hagel's nomination for defense secretary during a period of global U.S. military involvement, saying the Pentagon would be without a leader at noon today.

Reid can rest easy, though. Current defense secretary Leon Panetta said he will remain in his post until a successor is confirmed by the Senate.
