A "left wing liberal" House candidate in Virginia on Thursday offered a hefty reward for anyone who could provide him with sexually explicit imagery of a 19-year-old Texas cheerleader.

The candidate, Mike Dickinson, said on Thursday that he would give $100,000 "to anyone who has nude photos or videos" of Kendall Jones, a Texas Tech student who has come under criticism for posting photos on Facebook of animals killed at an African hunting preserve.

In another tweet, Dickinson attempted to solicit "sex stories or info" involving Jones.

The practice of disseminating sexually explicit content of another person with the intent to harass, intimidate, or punish that person is a criminal offense in Virginia.

Dickinson describes himself as a "left wing liberal campaigning for Congress" on his Twitter page.

Under Virginia law, "a person is guilty of a Class 1 misdemeanor if he, with the intent to cause substantial emotional distress, disseminates or sells any videotape, photograph, film, or other videographic or still image or reproduction thereof that depicts another person who is totally nude, in a state of undress, or engaged in sexual conduct where such person knows or has reason to know that he is not licensed or privileged to do so and the person depicted suffers substantial emotional distress."
