A top southern Democratic official said at a meeting last Friday that if the party can't successfully use the racial tension in Ferguson "into a message for our party, we just need to pack it up and go home," according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
Janet May, chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee's southern caucus, stressed the importance of using Ferguson as a get-out-the-vote message during a DNC meeting in Atlanta on Friday.
"Now if we can’t take that scenario and roll it into a message for our party, we just need to pack it up and go home," said May.
May added that the party has "been grasping for a message."
