Axelrod: Hillary as a Cautious Frontrunner is Bad

In David Axelrod’s new book, he recalls how Hillary Clinton’s caution when running for the White House in 2007 cost her the nomination and if she wants to win the nomination again that she needs to have a carefully conceived message.

Clinton has come under fire for having a desire to run for president without having a clear message and purpose. With pushing her campaign announcement off until July, Clinton is treating this like she is the frontrunner.

"Americans are always about the future. Bill Clinton was famously the one who said that, and he was right. So she needs a very well conceived message about where she wants to lead the country. If she doesn't have that, then it does become a problem," Axelrod said in a USA Today interview.

Axelrod continued on by saying that she was not a good candidate in 2007 and after losing the Iowa caucuses Hillary Clinton threw caution to the wind. By avoiding the primary debates Hillary would have to treat her campaign like an incumbent and not a front-runner.
