State Dept's Marie Harf: Why Is No One Talking about Kony Anymore?

February 18, 2015

In an effort to defend herself, Marie Harf went on Morning Joe. Harf defended her comment that one of the reasons people could be joining IS was because of the lack of job opportunities. She continued saying that "we" need to work with the Middle East.

When asked who the "we" she was referring to Harf got defensive and said that it was the international community. According to Harf the over sixty countries that are in Washington, DC for the security conference need to work together to identify people who may become extremists before they do and then to prevent the threat from happening.

"If you at the Lord Resistance Army and Kony. I don’t remember people talking about that much more but that’s a Christian group and there are tools to go after each one of them," said Harf.

It is easy for the Marie Harf and the State Department to identify Kony as a radical Christian group but hard for them to say whether IS is a radical Islamic group.
