A Soviet spy convicted and imprisoned for his actions in 1986 is scheduled to be released from U.S. prison on Tuesday, according to release records.
Ronald Pelton, a former National Security Agency communications specialist, was imprisoned in the late 80s after he was discovered to have been selling U.S. secrets to Russia.
Pelton’s release comes just days after convicted Israeli spy Jonathan Pollard was set free from prison due to concerns about his health. Pollard was a former Naval intelligence officer who was caught attempting to sell information to the Israelis.
Pelton has been imprisoned at a medium-security prison in Pennsylvania.
