A neighbor and friend of one of the San Bernardino attackers was arrested Thursday, according to a law enforcement official.

ABC News reported that Enrique Marquez has been charged with conspiring to provide material support to terrorists. Marquez was a friend of Syed Rizwan Farook, who with his wife Tashfeen Malik opened fire on a San Bernardino, California, holiday party and killed 14 people on Dec. 2.

According to investigators, Marquez purchased the two rifles used in the attack earlier this month. Officials suspect that Farook asked Marquez to purchase the rifles in late 2011 or early 2012.

Both Farook and Malik were killed in a shootout with police following the deadly attack. FBI investigators, who have been treating the shooting as an act of terror, have said that both individuals were radicalized as far back as late 2013.

Farook and Malik, a Pakistani national, met online. Malik traveled to the U.S. last summer on a K-1 fiancé visa and later obtained a green card.
