The New York Times issued a correction Monday morning to article about Pope Francis’ first Easter message that misidentified what Easter is:

Correction: April 1, 2013

An earlier version of this article mischaracterized the Christian holiday of Easter. It is the celebration of Jesus’s resurrection from the dead, not his resurrection into heaven.

The ascension of Jesus is observed on the 40th day of Easter.
