Sen. Dan Coats (R., Ind.) discussed his concerns Thursday about Secretary of Defense nominee Chuck Hagel after his poorly-received confirmation, saying he is simply "off the page" on Iran and did himself no good with his testimony.
"I think he left the impression of, ‘Who is the real Chuck Hagel?'" Coats said. "The one who for more than a decade has taken extreme positions, outside the range of Republican or Democrat administrations, or the Chuck Hagel who suddenly is trying to recast himself once he's been nominated? He stumbled on key questions. He had to be corrected on a couple of issues. I don't think it was a good day for Chuck Hagel."
