Clinton Again Claims FBI Called Her Email Statements Truthful

August 4, 2016

Hillary Clinton claimed again that the FBI called her past statements about her private email server "truthful" in a recent interview, despite many journalists arguing the opposite.

The interviewer asked Clinton about the content of emails in her home-brewed server that were deleted before the FBI could investigate them. These missing emails have led to accusations that Clinton disposed of them because they contained classified material, which the Clinton campaign denies.

"What kind of stuff was in those emails?" the interviewer asked.

Clinton said they discussed personal, private matters and were not connected to her official position as secretary of state.

"It was all personal stuff and we’ve said that consistently, and as the FBI said, everything that I’ve said publicly has been consistent and truthful with what I told them," Clinton said.

The Washington Post’s fact checker has previously rated this talking point by Clinton and her campaign with "four pinocchios," their highest claim of dishonesty. Clinton and her campaign have been arguing in recent days that the FBI exonerated her of wrongdoing.
