Taylor Swift would have to perform at a concert every day for three years just to pay for one day of interest on our nation’s debt, according to an analysis from the Daily Signal.
Our national debt outstanding, which includes debt held by the public and intergovernmental holdings, currently totals more than $18 trillion, according to the Treasury.
According to a calculation from Forbes, the singer made around $80 million in 2015 and performed 55 concerts. This means that Swift earned roughly $1,454,545 for every concert she performed.
According to the Daily Signal analysis, this means that Swift would have to perform a concert every day for three years just to cover one day’s interest.
The report also finds that professional boxer Floyd Mayweather, who earned $300 million in 2015, would have to fight every day for more than 331 years to pay for the nation’s debt.
Bill Gates, who has a net worth of $79.2 billion, would need to submit lifetime earnings 229 times to pay for the outstanding debt.
Finally, the report finds that professional football player Aaron Rodgers, who averages $1.29 million per game, would have to play more than 400,000 games to pay for just one year of interest on the debt.
