Egyptian Nazi Party Leader Arrested

Ramy Jan uninvited to Georgetown conference

December 2, 2013

Egyptian Nazi Party leader Ramy Jan has reportedly been arrested by Egyptian military authorities, according to Arabic language reports.

Jan—who was recently invited to, and then uninvited from, a forum at Georgetown University—was reportedly seized by authorities under "mysterious circumstances," according to the Arabic newspaper Almesryoon.

He was reportedly arrested on Thursday without reason, according to an Egyptian group seeking his release.

Jan, a self-declared leading member of Egypt’s Nazi Party, caused a stir last week after the Free Beacon revealed that he was slated to speak at an upcoming event on Egyptian Democracy.

Jan was disinvited from the event several hours after the Free Beacon's report.
