Man Scales Russian Embassy Fence

After crashing his SUV in Northwest Washington, D.C., just after midnight Thursday, a man fled the scene and attempted to flee to the Russian Embassy, NBC Washington reports.

A man crashed his SUV at Massachusetts Avenue and Calvert Avenue in Northwest D.C. shortly after midnight.

As police approached him, he ran off, leading them on a chase that led them to the Russian Embassy on Wisconsin Avenue.

The man then surprised police by hopping the fence of the embassy.

When the Secret Service arrived on scene, they explained to Russian Security Forces the situation. It then took about 90 minutes worth of negotiations before they turned the man over to US authorities.

The man was identified by his passport as 34-year-old Michael Worley. He was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated, according to the Washington Post.
