Joni Ernst, the Republican candidate for Iowa’s Senate seat, questioned her opponent Sunday on his ability to reach across the aisle when he cannot even resolve issues with his neighbors.
Ernst referenced her Democratic opponent, Rep. Bruce Braley’s, threat to sue his neighbor after the neighbor’s chickens crossed into his yard.
"How do we expect Iowans to believe that you will walk across the aisle when you can’t walk across the yard?" Ernst asked.
Braley, visibly startled, said, "That’s not true. I never threatened to sue anyone."
A new Des Moines Register poll published Saturday shows Ernst is leading Braley by six points.
