Sen. Harry Reid (D., Nev.) got testy with a reporter who asked about an FEC probe into whether the Senate Majority Leader violated campaign finance rules Wednesday in a press conference:
REPORTER: Senator Reid […] your decision yesterday to reimburse your campaign $17,000 —
HARRY REID: 16, but whatever.
REPORTER: Was that an acknowledgment it was wrong to use your granddaughter as a vendor —
REID: No, no, in fact, it wasn’t. We complied with all the rules that was said, I just wanted to avoid, and I’m very fortunate that I can write that check, so it’s all done. But everything was complied with beforehand.
REPORTER: Will —
REID: I’m not going to answer, read my statement.
The FEC is looking to allegations that Reid purchased expensive gifts for donors from his granddaughter, Ryan Elisabeth Reid.
On the senator's FEC disclosure his granddaughter was listed only as "Ryan Elisabeth," curiously missing her last name.
